By your honours command, an example I stand,
Of your anger to all the ships crew,
I'm hamper'd and stripp'd, and if I am whipp'd,
By the mes, 'tis no [more] than my due.
. . . [3 stanzas of 4 lines each] [extemporaneous verse by a
sailor ordered by Capt. Vincent Pearce, Commander of his
Majesty's Ship Tartar to be brought to the gang way and
whipped after having committed a misdemeanor]
